Sorry everyone, I had a bad back and hip injury this weekend that landed me in the hospital for part of the weekend and I was not able to get into the studio to record. I am home at the time of writing this but heavily medicated and cannot get to my studio to record. I can use your prayers for healing, thank you everyone for your prayers and for listening!

P.S.- Cliff has made it back safe and sound from Mexico and actually has a tan! God can work miracles!

Sorry guys, if you haven’t heard I was hit with some bad sickness, maybe strep throat, and lost my voice for part of the week. My Doc took me out of work for a few day and put me on some powerful antibiotics. While I am better I am not back to normal (well, as normal as I can be!). Throat still hurts and I am coughing up stuff still. I can talk for short periods of time but if I tried to talk for any extended time my throat starts bugging me again. So I decided to not record and Cliff and I will be back next week. Hope you guys understand.

Thanks,
Chris

I was kinda bored at work the other day so I was on wikipedia reading up on all the series and movies in the Star Trek universe. And you know what? It appears that while Gene Rodenberry had a great idea for Star Trek initially his influence may not be what made it great. I recognize what he did with the Original Series is great but he may not have made the transition too well into more modern Trek times. I always heard how Paramount had issues with him and how his ideas and input was not always the best. And some of the rules he had for writers, like the “no interpersonal conflict among the characters” handicapped the creative process. They tried to keep some of that in Next Generation with Roddenberry as Producer on the show and to me made it a kinda shallow show that, the earlier season, just don’t hold up. And in my opinion the episodic nature of the show prevented the plot and character growth. My favorite Trek is Deep Space 9, which Roddenberry is reported to have hated and went against everything his “Utopian Vision” of the future. It had a lot of character growth, interpersonal conflict, and long serialized story arcs that I LOVED! Now sure, since DS9 Trek may have begun slipping. I wasn’t enjoying Trek until the 3rd season of Enterprise when they brought people on who had the right idea for a prequel (we won;t mention the series final slap in the face to the cast tho). So seriously, is the hype behind The Great Bird of the Galaxy Gene Roddenberry overblown? I am interested in hearing your opinions…

I now await your replies in my flame proof bunker!

Hey there my friends! I just wanted to give a shout out for Scott Roche’s audiodrama Archangel. You can find it over at http://www.archangelnovel.com/blog/. The first book is complete and I really suggest you go download it right now. Scott has book 2, Legion, in the works right now and it will be a much bigger production. This time around he is having some of us in the podcast arena, like ME!, help with the voice acting. So go and catch up with book one and get ready for my first voice acting role EVER with Archangel Legion.

I’m involved so it must be GREAT!

Politics… UGH!
posted by: Chris in From the Mind of Chris on 09 5th, 2008 | | No Comments »

Ok, for all my long time listeners out there you know I really dislike politics mostly because of the whole political movement behind Christianity (aka Dominionism) and the feeling that if you are Christian you have to vote Republican. I for one am waiting for the day a third party candidate comes along and kicks the democratic and republican parties in their butt.

That being said, I like the choice of Sarah Palin for VP. I am going to throw my support behind McCain and Palin (unless a 3rd party steps up in the 11th hour). But I also want to say to everyone out there, vote for who you think best represents you. You won’t loose your salvation if you vote for Obama and Biden or anyone else.

And I just want to throw this observation out there, Republican Christians may have Biblical obedience down good but somewhere I think they lost the idea of love. And I think somewhere along the line Democratic Christians went overboard on loving and acceptance of everyone and forgot the obedience that is asked for by God. We have to realize that we need the Biblical obedience AND the love to truly be Christlike to the world that needs to know Him better.

So go and vote, remember what is important and what God asks of you, and love those who might be making other choices then the ones you make.

Hey Everyone! I have a new project in the works. A piece of fiction called “The Demon Hunter”. You can check out my new page at The Demon Hunter. It is still in the early stages but I thought if I put word out there about it I may find a little more motivation to actually sit down and do more writing. So check out the page and hopefully I will have something more to say soon.
